Case Study: House Demolition

Job Type: Demolition

Description

When a 295m2 house in the centre of Auckland city needed to be demolished quickly and safely, GRABIT provided a cost effective solution.

Demolition work on the 751m2 site saw the main dwelling and associated structures, including a carport, removed to allow the site to be redeveloped.

Situated on a busy four-lane road, with difficult site access, there was room for only one truck on site at a time. This made a grab truck the perfect solution for a seamless demolition process.

GRABIT’S DEMOLITION CAPABILITIES:

GRABIT’s grab trucks are fitted with a crane and clamshell grab system that can reach 10 metres and lift up to four tonnes at a time. This enabled deconstruction of the house, from the top down, in a safe and controlled manner.

Sections of the house were picked out and placed directly into the truck, where they were broken up and compacted down. Placing debris directly into the truck makes for a cleaner site and reduces noise levels for neighbouring properties.

Grab trucks hold up to 30 cubic of waste, three time more than a standard six-wheeler truck. The greater volume capacity meant truck movement was minimised with fewer trips to the tip. In addition, with just one driver operating at a safe distance from the demolition activity, health and safety risks were minimised.

GRAB TRUCKS ARE BECOMING A POPULAR CHOICE FOR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CONTRACTORS.
